Google Documents Form
Please fill out my survey!
I made this survey by going to google documents and clicking on New. Under New is a form button that comes up as a blank form and that is how I created my survey. This was a very easy tool to use and I could use it in the future to make value clarification surveys for use in my health class.

GRAPH 4th Grade Math Scores for WV Compared to National Scores
GRAPH # of Students on an IEP Compared to State Income
After reviewing the data ... I can see a clear connection with state income and Students with an IEP
... As I was inserting my graph into my blog the image was too large so I saved it into the paint program and worked with skew to make the % smaller from 100% to 75% as to fit it into my blog post ... it was easy :-)

Grade Book Greatness !!!!!!
Grade Book,
I created a gradebook in Grade Quick. It was easy and fun. If you want to download the file (.gbk) you may by clicking here. You may view a screen shot (made with print screen), which was saved as an image (jpg) and inserted into a Power Point slide.
When I made the hyperlink "file (.gbk)" I had to cheat and rename it as a .doc file ... so when you click it it comes up as a Microsoft Word file but it will not open until you save it back as a .gbk granting that your computer has the Grade Quick program on it ... you rename files by right clicking them and then going down to rename ... easy :-)

9/4 Assignment

1) What does the research say about the role of technology in your teaching field, grade level, specialization, subject area?
Not a lot was said in regards to the physical/health education teaching field but there were many good arguments that video instruction and television play a bigger and more important role than once thought. With the new research that has been done in this field, technology could be easily and successfully included to a physical/health education classroom with little or no problem at all and with high success rates. Multidisciplinary incorporation could be added into the Physical/Health Education field with math and technology using pedometers. Having the students to use computers to chart their progress on a online graph is just one small idea of the endless possibilities out there that technology has provided.
2) How will you respond to the critics of technology --- pro or con based upon your analysis of the available research?
More research still needs to be done on technology in the education field but it looks to be all positive research that has been done thus far. The con side of using technology in the Physical/Health Education field is that this subject field is psychomotor in content while technology can tend to be more cognitive and sedentary. This may lead students to use technology as a way of taking the easy way out and just letting the computer or the palm pilot do the work while they take shortcuts and miss out on the true psychomotor learning experience of the actual doing.
3) Create a question (and the answer(s)) or two from this reading and post them on your blog. Include a hyperlink in your post to the original document Technology in Schools Report (Above).
· Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman, talks about the vital role that today’s education system plays in the “knowledge economy” and how the correct tools can be used to create exciting new products in the education field in his recent book ____The World Is Flat _____.
· ____Information Processing and Visualization____ is the ability to interpret, evaluate, and use multimedia-based information in ways that advance thinking, decision making, and learning.
