Podcast

This is my podcast on yoga that I created using audacity. This podcast on yoga meets WV CSO PE.HS.1.04 which states that students will participate in a variety of dance and rhythmic activities (i.e. aerobics, yoga, and square dancing).

TPACK

Pod casts are an excellent way to incorporate technology into the classroom. Using a podcast not only for home bound students but also for student's in the classroom is a new and exciting (not like boring lecture style) to communicate classroom material (CK). Things such as chapter readings, paper assignments, and (boring) statistics (P) are all good things to make a podcast of. All a student needs is access to the Internet and some speakers (T).

Relation to standards

Having students to complete a podcast best closely relates to standard #2 which states that the teacher must design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

Integration

Again, yet another great way to integrate technology into the classroom. Pod casts are a simple yet effective tool to use in the classroom.

Assessments Forms

Here is a link to my 5 question assessment form that I created using google docs. Please feel free to respond to my quiz and then your answers will be recorded on a spreadsheet viewable here.

This is an excellent tool to use in the classroom. An easy way to test student's knowledge without all of the paper. Also, a great way to grade quizzes. I see great potential for use in the classroom!

Assessment forms are an excellent way to incorporate technology (T) into the classroom. Using assessment forms is a more convient way to test student knowledge (CK) without all of the paper. Students also enjoy doing assignments in this format more so than paper and pencil assessments (P). Having a good mixture of both (paper and computer) is best teaching practice.

Relation to Standards

Having students to complete an assesment using an online assessment from google docs, closely relates to standard #2 which states that the teacher must design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

Rubistar

Here is a link to my published online Rubristar rubric for a three fold brochure on HIV/AIDS.

Here is another link to my published online Google Docs rubric for a three fold brochure on HIV/AIDS.

This is a great tool for teachers. Having a rubric for assignments is important as it lets the student see the criteria that is expected for the assignment.

Windows Movie Maker

Here is my movie that I made using Windows Movie Maker. I can see real potential for this program in the classroom. From reading the directions for ths assignment I was expecting it to be harder but it was surprisingly easy to make. This is an excellent program and most computers already come equipped with some version of windows movie maker already installed. You could also do the Kechua Pechua style powerpoint with this program and just turn it into a movie.

Presentation Games

Today's assignment was to experiment with presentation games (i.e. jeopardy, who wants to be a millionaire, etc.). Our assignment was to create a short quiz in our content area using PowerPoint games. I chose to create a quiz on lifestyle diseases. This application is a great way to incorporate technology into the classroom and also a great way to engage students in a fun interactive way.

Google Docs

I also uploaded my powerpoint to google docs and published it.

Pecha Kucha & Ignite Presentation Styles

Deciding to go in a different direction this time (different from my last powerpoint) I decided to use pictures to tell a story (with few words). The issue I chose to present was obesity ... specifically childhood obesity. I used Microsoft Power Point to create my 20 slide presentation. I then created an account and uploaded my presentation onto slide share.

I can see a real use for this type of program in the classroom. An idea that I might use this type of program for is group presentations. Using this format (Ignite 20 slides total of 5 minutes) would be a great way for every group in a large class to be able to present.

Photo Story

Here is my Photo Story video that I created using the free program Photo Story. I additionally created an account with Teacher Tuble and uploaded my video there to make it public. In my video I used voice over with my own voice to add narrative plus I added some background music to make it interesting. I also utilized text writing to label my individual pictures. I really enjoyed using this program and can see potential for classroom use by having student's create their own sotries. I am not sure if I would use this program in Physical Education but I could see using it in Health Education.
